Our Story

Our story began in 2021, when Black Grove Design Company grew from a love of graphic design and working with our hands into something more. We’re a husband-and-wife team, both driven by a love of art and the process of making something from an idea. As the business evolved, our backgrounds in woodworking and graphic design began to overlap, allowing us to bring two different skill sets together to create something uniquely our own.

Our two creative passions often overlap, bringing graphic design, art, and woodworking together in unexpected ways. Sometimes that means incorporating graphic design into a piece of wood art; other times, it simply means approaching a project with the same thoughtful, creative mindset.

Wood Art + Home Décor

Our wood art and home décor is inspired by the character, landscapes, and spirit of the Southwest. Each piece is thoughtfully handcrafted in small batches using quality woods, natural materials, and durable finishes. From functional home décor to distinctive art pieces, our work is made slowly, with intention, and meant to be lived with.

Our pieces are one of a kind, reflecting the natural character of the materials and the hands-on process behind them. Our wood products are New Mexico True Certified and proudly made in Albuquerque.

Creative Design

Our creative design work brings that same thoughtful, hands-on approach to visual communication. With more than two decades of experience in graphic design, print production, and creative direction, we create purposeful designs for businesses, organizations, and brands.

From publications and print materials to marketing and visual identity, we enjoy finding creative solutions that are both functional and distinctive. We like to think beyond the expected and create work that feels intentional, original, and true to its purpose.

Whether we’re working with wood or pixels, our goal is the same: thoughtful design, made with intention.
